Sexually transmitted infections (STDs) are infections that are transmitted from an infected person to an uninfected person through sexual contact. STDs can be caused by bacteria, viruses or parasites. Examples are gonorrhea, genital herpes, human papillomavirus infection, HIV / AIDS, chlamydia and syphilis.
