Researchers at Columbia University Irving Medical Center have found that taking a five-minute walk every thirty minutes can help keep your heart healthy. These short breaks are effective in reducing the negative effects of prolonged sitting. According to the research, these walking breaks lower blood sugar and blood pressure.
The study was conducted with eleven participants who either had to sit for eight hours without moving or walk for different periods of time on different schedules. During the experiment, their blood pressure and glucose levels were measured. The results showed that those who walked for five minutes every 30 minutes had the best values and felt the best.
